Prince Harry says it became 'Meghan versus Kate'

Of brother Prince William and his wife Catherine, he said: "I always hoped that the four of us would get on.

"But very quickly it became Meghan versus Kate.

"And that, when it plays out so publicly, you can't hide from that," he told Tom Bradby, in an ITV interview.

BBC reports in the 95-minute interview to promote his memoir, titled Spare, he recalled the days when he was the "third wheel" at official engagements and other outings - but his relationship with Prince William and Catherine was particularly warm at that time.

The brothers, whose falling-out has been the subject of intense media scrutiny, looked relaxed together as they revealed the statue they commissioned in honour of Diana in the Sunken Garden of Kensington Palace in central London, her former home.

The bronze statue depicts Diana, who was killed in a Paris car crash in 1997, surrounded by three children, which Kensington Palace said represented "the universality and generational impact" of her work.

The Duke of Cambridge, who is the current FA president, says he shared the concerns of the fans that the breakaway league consisting of 12 of Europe’s richest clubs over the damage it will bring to the game.

“Now, more than ever, we must protect the entire football community – from the top level to the grassroots – and the values of competition and fairness at its core,” he tweeted.

“I share the concerns of fans about the proposed Super League and the damage it risks causing to the game we love.”
