Cristiano Ronaldo 'has 10 years' left

The 31-year-old Portuguese's last deal was set to end in June 2018 but he will now remain with the Spanish giants until June 2021.

He added that the new contract would not be the last deal he signs.

"What I most want is to continue enjoying the years I have left to play," said the former Manchester United player. "I still have 10 years."

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez added: "We want to be together for many years to come."

FIFA rejects Madrid, Atletico transfer ban appeals

World football's governing body initially imposed the punishment in January due to the capital clubs breaching rules in relation to the transfer of minors but suspended them later in the month, pending appeal.

Madrid and Atletico will now be unable to register new players until January 2018, with their respective initial fines of 360,000 Swiss francs and 900,000 Swiss francs remaining.

Ronaldo will play this weekend

The Portugal captain has been out since limping off early in his country's Euro 2016 final defeat of hosts France with a knee injury.

He sat out Madrid's opening two LaLiga matches of the new season as well as their UEFA Super Cup defeat of Sevilla but has stepped up training this week.

Speaking at the launch of his new perfume on Thursday, the 31-year-old announced he would be back for the visit of Osasuna to the Santiago Bernabeu.

"I'm going to play," he told reporters, although it remains to be seen if he will start or settle for a place on the bench.

Real Madrid sack Benitez

Benitez, 55, had only been in charge at Real for six months.

The final nail in his coffin was reportedly the weekend's 2-all draw at Valencia, which left Real third in La Liga, four points behind leaders Atletico Madrid.
