Samoan tourism bouncing back, but recovery ongoing

The Samoa Observer reports this is according to Chief Executive Officer Pativaine Petaia-Tevita, who spoke to the recent Samoa Tourism Industry Meet 2023.

The STA boss said one of the challenges faced by the industry is that accommodation properties are not 100 percent back in full operation.

Pativaine said some of the operators are partially opened while some are fully opened but have yet to come up to standard, and some operators have complained about the new licensing requirements, which is delaying the roll out of the latest stimulus package.

Pacific well poised for the return of tourism

The organisation, which has 20 government members, represents tourism in the Pacific region. Its member nations cover a large area of the Pacific region extending from Rapa Nui in the east to Timor Leste in the west, as well as from the Republic of the Marshall Islands in the north, all the way south to the Kingdom of Tonga.

"We also have more than 100 private sector members from the industry," said Chris Cocker, CEO.

Cairns shares positive recovery news

Cairns, 51, was left paralysed in both legs after a major heart incident and subsequent surgeries two months ago.

He suffered an aortic dissection - a tear in the body's main artery - in Canberra and was rushed to Sydney's St Vincent's hospital where he spent a week on life support.

But, in a recent post to social media, the former Black Caps all-rounder describes what he calls "a flickering" in his right ankle.

"Super stoked about that. Toes are the furthest point from the brain and messages are slowly making their way down to them."

Shaun Johnson on road to recovery in 'the chamber' after Achilles tendon injury

The 30-year-old Cronulla playmaker snapped an Achilles tendon last September, prematurely ending a standout season which saw him lead the NRL for try assists.

Johnson and wife Kayla (nee Cullen) – a former Silver Ferns netballer – welcomed daughter Millah in August, not long before his injury.

Johnson has featured in a video on the Sharks' website detailing his rehabilitation workload while his Cronulla colleagues “get to run out on the field and pass a footy around’’.

Recovering from surgery or stress? Yoga can help

However, during my surgery prep and procedure, the doctor discovered that the damage to my core was considerably more than just a hernia.
