Samoa police chief to retire

Media in Samoa reported Fuiavaili'ili said he would not re-apply when his contract term ends at the beginning of next year.

Fuiavaili'ili said it was time to let others take over and lead the force.

He has been the country's top cop for six years, but has been criticised by the new FAST Government and recently returned from medical treatment in New Zealand.

UB40: Singer Duncan Campbell announces retirement

The 63-year-old, who replaced his brother Ali on singing duties in the British reggae pop band in 2008, suffered a stroke in August last year.

Since then the former pro spoon player had been recovering in preparation for the Birmingham band's upcoming UK tour.

But Campbell said had to retire now "due to continued ill health".

UB40 confirmed they have already begun the search for a new singer.

The 35-year-old former All Blacks and Roosters premiership player has signed a short-term NRL deal.

Tendai 'Beast' Mtawarira retires after South Africa's RWC win

The 34-year-old bows out as the most capped prop in South African history with 117 caps.

Nicknamed 'Beast', Mtawarira was a standout performer as the Boks beat England in last Saturday's World Cup final, winning a number of scrum penalties.

"I've been privileged to play this great game and achieve many career goals over the last 12 years of playing senior rugby," said Mtawarira.

Yuvraj 'moving on' from cricket

Yuvraj played 40 Tests, 304 ODIs and 58 T20Is in all, playing starring roles at the inaugural World Twenty20 in 2007 and then the Cricket World Cup four years later.

India triumphed on both occasions, with Yuvraj making decisive contributions with both bat and ball, but he is best known for his efforts in 2011, which saw him named the tournament's best player.

He had not played for his country since June 2017, though, and has decided to call time on his career on the international and IPL stages.

Greg Inglis announces retirement after 2020 season

Inglis made the announcement via a video sent out to Rabbitohs club members.

"[It's] a decision I've made purely on my own, and something I've been thinking about in the last two-and-a-half months. At the end of 2020, I'll be hanging up the boots,

"I'll be giving away the game, but staying around this club hopefully for a long time after I retire," he said.

"For the next two years, I'll be giving everything I can to this great club. 2019 will be my last representative season, therefore next year, I'll be solely concentrating on the South Sydney Rabbitohs.

Habana to hang up boots

The 34-year-old winger, whose contract at French club Toulon expires in June, confirmed the news on Instagram.

"The inevitable moment has come knocking on my door and I've welcomed it in for a drink." he said.

Habana scored 67 tries in the 124 Test appearances he made for the Springboks and his last international appearance was in 2016 when he was also vice-captain.

The electric winger underwent knee surgery last year and has struggled to make an impact at Toulon this season.

Former Wales prop Jones to retire

Jones on Sunday announced that he will hang up his boots 18 years after making his professional debut for Neath.

The veteran front-row forward, who went on two British and Irish Lions tours, will remain at Harlequins as assistant forwards coach on a full-time basis when his playing days come to an end.

"I'll be officially retiring from playing at the end of the season. I've had a great career and never thought I'd go on to achieve what I have." said Jones.

Elton John to retire after three-year world tour

The 70-year-old singer, who is one of the best-selling recording artists in the world, said his priorities have changed after becoming a parent to two children with his husband David Furnish.

"I love them so much. I don't want to miss them and I don't want them to miss me," he said. "I've had a good run."

He denied British media reports that he was quitting touring because of ill health.

Michalak calls time

The 35-year-old ends his career as France's all-time leading scorer with 436 points from 77 caps, having won Six Nations Grand Slams in 2002, 2004 and 2010 and competed at three World Cups.

His club career has taken in Toulouse, Toulon and his current club Lyon, as well as two spells in South Africa with the Sharks.
