More staff for New Caledonia jail

Jean-Jacques Urvoas, who is on an official visit to New Caledonia, said two of them will specifically maintain security around the facility's perimeter.

This was announced as the new head of the jail was officially installed and the hiring of 80 staff was confirmed.

The prison has been upgraded after the previous justice minister released more than $US20 million.

On Monday, 4th July 2016, Prime Minister Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi granted an interview with the 60 Minutes Television Crew from Australia who had requested comment from government on the Lauititi Tualima case, which was before the Court; and on security concerns and services at Tafaigata Prison.

On Sunday night the 60 Minutes segment aired in Australia and of the 13 minutes of story, less than two minutes were given to the Prime Minister’s responses.

Security heightened at games venues

Media representatives with games passes will be allowed into the games.

Those who don't have passes will be turned away.

Meanwhile most Pacific Island countries have arrived in the country for the challenge during the games.

The opening ceremony will be on Saturday July 4, 2015 at BSP stadium in Port Moresby.

Pacific Games security tightened

On hand were army, police and C.S officers.

According to venue officers, the tour will coincide with today’s venue opening on site.

Games Operations commander David Manning says that all venues are progressing in terms of security and that all units are set to roll out operations pending their venues being launched.

Meanwhile, all venue commanders have been briefed and are now in the implementation process of their duties.
