Tarzan actor Joe Lara, 58, presumed dead in plane crash

The 58-year-old is among seven people believed killed when a light aircraft crashed into a lake near the town of Smyrna on Saturday.

His dietician wife, Gwen Shamblin Lara, who founded a weight-loss church, is also among the victims.

Rescue workers say they found wreckage and human remains at the crash site.

Mr Lara played the lead role in the 1989 TV movie Tarzan in Manhattan before reprising the role in the follow-up TV series Tarzan: The Epic Adventures.

He gave up acting in 2002 to pursue a career in country music.

Alexander Skarsgard Is The New King Of The Jungle In First 'Legend Of Tarzan'

USA Today first Tweeted a shirtless image of the 39-year-old Swede on Tuesday night, and followed up with another peek at the actor alongside Margot Robbie as Jane.

In an interview published on Wednesday, Alexander told the paper that the new film will be a departure from the story audiences are already familiar with.

"It's almost the opposite of the classic tale, where it's about taming the beast," he said. "This is about a man who's holding back and slowly as you peel off the layers, he reverts back to a more animalistic state and lets that side of his personality out."
