New luxurious villas at Taumeasina Island Resort

According to General Manager Tuiataga Nathan Bucknall the new development consists of 12 self-contained 3-bedroom Villas offering stunning views of the Pacific Ocean. 

The new Villas are larger in size compared to those which are part of the original build. All are located on the mainland by the main entrance and directly face Taumeasina Island.

With the absence of international visitors due to COVID, Tuitaga acknowledged that it has been a very challenging period. 

PNG-owned Taumeasina Island Resort tops Samoa award

The awards are given by the Samoa Tourism Authority celebrating the outstanding performances of those who have made exceptional contributions to Samoa’s tourism industry within the past 12 months.

The multi-million dollar Taumeasina Island Resort is owned by three PNG joint venture partners, the Lamana Group, Petroleum Resources Gobe and Mineral Resources Development Company.

Team Miss PNG off to Apia, Samoa

The team of more than 10 departed the country at 1:51pm on Virgin Air.

They will fly through Brisbane and then Auckland, New Zealand where they will spend at least 8 hours before continuing to their destination.

They are expected to touch down at the Faleolo International Airport at about 13:55pm tomorrow, Samoan time (9:00 am PNG time).

Miss PNG, Kellyanne Limbiye and Miss Pacific Abigail Havora will be stepping out fully dressed with their crowns and sash.

“I am super excited, nervous, just full of emotions right now,” Limbiye said.

New resort in Samoa creates 180 jobs

According to RNZI, Taumeasina Island Resort's General Manager, Nathan Bucknall, said 180 full time workers were on the payroll and it can accommodate 340 guests.

"It's very unique for Samoa and I think unique for some parts of the South Pacific as well. We're an island that's five minutes away from the capital city of Samoa, Apia," said Mr Bucknall.

"We'd like to think we are, and we will continue to be, one of the best resorts in the country from a service level perspective."
