Brit MP sparks Twitter backlash with British Empire post

Conservative Heather Wheeler shared a graphic with a medals table split between "Rest of World", "British Empire" and "EU post-Brexit".

After congratulating Team GB, she then wrote: "Now for the Trade Agreements."

The South Derbyshire MP said the tweet was a joke in response to another total which put the EU medals together.

But the post - entitled "Empire Goes For Gold" - has been labelled "deeply offensive to so many people and their ancestors" by Labour MP for Tottenham David Lammy, while others have called it "insensitive and ignorant".

This includes videos, photos, logos and phrases which any company, in this case the International Olympics Committee's (IOC), has registered.

The rules around the Olympics are more strict for companies as they arerestricted from even using the hashtag #Rio2016 to affiliate themselves with the games.

Twitter lifts Guccifer ban after Democrat phone numbers leak

On Friday, the hacker known as "Guccifer 2.0" released contact details of 193 current and ex-Congress members.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi later told colleagues she had received "obscene and sick calls" after her phone number was leaked.

Twitter declined to comment on the reasons for the suspension and subsequent reinstatement.

Wordpress also blocked some content on Guccifer's blog which has not been reinstated.

Shoppers frustrated on Amazon Prime Day

Amazon's Twitter account said it was working to resolve difficulties customers were having checking out.

The promotion ran for the first time last year, when the site also faced technical problems.

More than 34.4 million items were sold that day, exceeding the amount sold on Black Friday the previous year.

This year, customers complained of not being able to check out their purchases, with some missing deals available for a limited time.

Others said they were experiencing issues adding items to their cart.

Snapchat now has more active daily users than Twitter

The photo and video messaging app has overtaken Twitter and its 140 million active daily users.

Snapchat has added 40 million accounts in the last six months.

It's claimed that the service had 110 million daily users in December, which launched in 2011 - five years after Twitter.

However, Twitter is still ahead on active monthly users - it has 310 million compared to Snapchat's 200 million.
