YouTube to ban videos alleging widespread voter fraud

The update applies to all new content, including videos from President Donald Trump.

The company had previously labelled potentially misleading election videos, adding links to accurate information.

YouTube said "enough states have certified their election results to determine a President-elect."

Democrats have criticised YouTube for not doing enough to take down fake news and conspiracy theories on the platform.

Mr Trump and senior Republicans have repeatedly made unsubstantiated claims that the election was "rigged".

Trump camp's lawsuit struck down in Pennsylvania

Judge Matthew Brann said the suit, which rested on allegations of irregularities, was "without merit".

The move paves the way for Pennsylvania to next week certify Joe Biden's win - he leads by more than 80,000 votes.

It is the latest blow to Donald Trump, who is trying to overturn his loss in the 3 November presidential election.

He has refused to concede and made allegations of widespread electoral fraud, without providing any evidence.

The lack of a concession has upended the process that normally follows a US election.

Biden says Trump denial 'sending horrible message'

Mr Biden said he was confident Mr Trump knew he was not going to win and had shown "incredible irresponsibility".

Mr Trump has launched lawsuits alleging unsubstantiated election fraud.

He has now also invited state lawmakers to the White House, hinting at a possible change in tactics.

Michigan's Republican lawmakers have been asked to meet him there on Friday.

All but one of Mr Trump's challenges has failed to make any real headway.

Hours before a Wednesday deadline, the Trump campaign said it wanted a recount in the counties of Milwaukee and Dane, alleging irregularities.

Mr Trump has been making unsubstantiated claims of fraud and refused to authorise a handover.

Mr Biden says delaying the transition will damage the US pandemic response.

The Trump campaign has filed a flurry of lawsuits contesting the results in key states, although election officials say there is no evidence of widespread irregularities.

Pro-Trump protesters hold rallies as tensions grow

Far-right and anti-government groups including the Proud Boys, Oath Keepers and QAnon had indicated they would attend, amid tensions over the result.

Earlier protesters swarmed the presidential motorcade as Mr Trump drove past on his way to his golf course.

Joe Biden won the 3 November election.

On Saturday, he solidified his victory with a projected win in the state of Georgia - making him the first Democratic candidate to take the state since 1992.

Trump's son urges father to go to 'total war' over election results

A senior campaign official told CBS that Trump would not concede just because Biden declares victory.

Meanwhile his son Donald trump Jr urged his father to "go to total war over this election", in a post flagged by Twitter as misleading.

Meanwhile, the Trump campaign had filed another lawsuit in Pennsylvania, claiming that Republican representatives have been barred from attending ballot counts.

Now, a Philadelphia federal judge has scheduled an emergency hearing on the suit.

According to New York Times reporter Alan Feuer, the hearing will take place today.

US Elections: Biden overtakes Trump in several key states

Biden is currently leading in both Michigan and Wisconsin, which, if conclusive could get him 26 electoral votes closer to the 270 required to win the election. Most current projections show Biden with 238 electoral votes to Trump’s 213 as of 5:40 PM Belgian time.

Democrats are expecting a clear path to victory by this afternoon, according to Biden’s campaign manager Jen O’Malley, who said that Biden would have a higher total number of votes than any other presidential candidate in history.

John Legend and Chrissy Teigen give their kids an early lesson in citizenship

Legend's wife, Chrissy Teigen, and their young children appeared on stage together briefly.

"I want to send a shoutout -- actually, can you come onstage, baby?" he asked. "I want you guys to see, my wife is here. My daughter, Luna, is here. My son, Miles, is here. We're teaching our young people early to participate in their democracy."

This was the first public appearance Teigen had made since the recent loss of their son, Jack.

US election results: Trump and Biden each claim victory as lawsuits brew

The BBC projects Mr Biden won Michigan. US media forecast he has won Wisconsin. No result has emerged in Pennsylvania.

Winning all three of these Rust Belt states would make Mr Biden victorious.

US Election 2020: Tense wait as US election winner remains unclear

No candidate can credibly claim to have won as yet, and both campaigns said they had potential paths to victory.

Mr Biden's campaign said the race was "moving to a conclusion in our favour".

But Mr Trump, a Republican, claimed to have won and vowed to launch a Supreme Court challenge, without providing evidence of fraud.

Several key states are expected to finish counting by the end of Wednesday but the election may not be decided for days.
