Argentina win in Vancouver as All Blacks Sevens struggle

The Argentinians led 17-5 at half time and scored five tries to two.

The last time Argentina won a World Series tournament was in the United States in 2009, when current coach Santiago Gomez Cora was playing for them.

"I loved playing on the circuit, but ever since I have been a coach this has been the moment I have been working towards and my players must take all the credit because they work so hard and they wanted to win this one for their country so much," said Gomez Cora.

Fiji, Samoa 7s to miss start of the World Series

The new season kicks off in Vancouver on September 18, with another tournament in Edmonton the following weekend.

But Fiji's Olympic gold medal winning team and Samoa have joined New Zealand, Australia and Argentina in opting to skip the Canadian leg because of the ongoing effects of COVID-19, while Fiji will also be absent from the Singapore Sevens in October.

Fiji's players went more than four months without seeing their friends and families in order to achieve their Olympic dream in Japan.

TED 2017: UK 'Iron Man' demonstrates flying suit

Richard Browning's short flight took place outside the Vancouver Convention Centre in front of a large crowd.

Since he posted the video of his maiden flight in the UK, Mr Browning has had huge interest in his flying suit.

But he insists the project remains "a bit of fun" and is unlikely to become a mainstream method of transportation.

He was inspired by his father, an aeronautical engineer and inventor, who killed himself when Mr Browning was a teenager.

He told the BBC that he always had a passion for making things and loved a challenge.

Samoa named in pool with Fiji, Argentina and Wales

USA Sevens winners South Africa will top Pool A but will not have an easy run through to the Cup quarter-finals as a tricky group awaits them on the west coast of Canada.

Former England Sevens player Rob Vickerman commented on the pool draw: “Pool A is a tasty one with South Africa and England but also Kenya as a team that can create some upsets. They often seem to play well against England, in particular, so that will be a match to look out for.”

Fiji and Samoa set for round 3 in Vancouver

Radio New Zealand International reports Fiji went on to defend their title in Las Vegas and move five points clear at the top of the series standings.
