'The Rock' helps fan lose 115 pounds

Nina Gibson appeared on "Today" Monday to talk about her 115-pound weight loss and said the actor helped inspire her strength training.

Gibson, 48, went from a size 26 to a size 8 and said she struggled with her workouts.

But then she would think about the "Moana" star, who she admires.

"When I was in the gym, it was really hard for me to do the strength training," she said "I just couldn't get into it. The Rock definitely motivated me with strength training."

'No proof' fitness trackers promote weight loss

The two-year long study in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) included nearly 500 overweight volunteers who were asked to diet and take more exercise.

Half were given a fitness tracker to help them keep tabs.

This group had lost less weight than the other one by the end of the trial.

The study authors say this does not mean people should ditch the technology altogether, but neither should they put too much faith in them, at least as a slimming aid.
