Speaking at the opening of Youth Week in Apia, Fiame Naomi Mata'afa acknowledged many young people's achievements and contributions to Samoa's development.
Youth make up 64-percent of Samoa's population.
She also encouraged the youth to utilize their talents and skills to develop their families, villages and the country and acknowledged those who have excelled in sports on the world stage.
Fiame made particular reference to Samoa's recent gold medal won at last month's Commonwealth Youth Games rugby sevens tournament.
