A New South Wales man has been charged with trying to smuggle $500,000 worth of the drug ice into Tasmania inside his underwear.
The 32-year-old was arrested shortly after 8:00am on Sunday at Hobart Airport, after a routine inspection by a drug detection dog of passengers arriving on a Sydney flight.
Police said two officers were present when passengers were screened.
The man was subsequently searched and police allege 522 grams of ice were found in a package concealed in his underwear.
Police have charged the man with one count of unlawfully importing a controlled substance and one count of trafficking in a controlled substance.
He appeared in the Hobart Magistrates Court this morning and remains in police custody.
