The busload was making the one-hour journey to Manono from Apia, on the island of Upolu, when it struck a vehicle coming the opposite way.
The collision left the bus effectively split in half, and many of the passengers were left in a critical condition.
A witness told The Samoan Observer that the bus driver had lost control of his vehicle before ploughing into the oncoming car.
Footage of the incident's aftermath shows the bus crashed on the roadside without a roof and sides, and its seats badly damaged.
