Daylight saving

Consultation on scrapping of daylight saving unnecessary: Samoa PM

In a media conference this week, Fiame said the involvement of the law in the changes made by the Faatuatua i Le Atua Samoa ua Tasi administration to the DST policy is whether or not it is needed and done in Samoa.

“But the practicing (of Daylight saving) itself, yes it’s true with regards to the complaints but the government is looking at the significant part which is the constitutional actions taken hence the decision to remove daylight saving because we know we can do it here in Samoa,” she added.

Samoa daylight saving begins Sept 29

A statement from the Commerce, Industry and Labour Ministry said at 3am on 29 September, the public should adjust the time on their watches and clocks to 4am.

“However, we advise that you adjust your time an hour forward before you retire to bed on Saturday night, 28 September, 2019,” the ministry’s acting Chief Executive Officer, Lealua’ialii Ioane Okesene said.

A date for the end of daylight saving will be announced at a later stage.
