Brock Lesnar failed second drug test on day of fight with Mark Hunt

Kiwi mixed martial arts heavyweight Mark “Super Samoan” Hunt has again vented angrily at UFC 200 opponent Brock Lesnar, this time dismissing claims the WWE star's failed drug test following their Las Vegas fight was due to asthma medication.

UFC revealed on Tuesday (NZT Wednesday) that Lesnar tested positive for a banned substance immediately after the high profile fight on July 10. What the substance was was not publicly known, but Lesnar's camp suggested an asthma medication was to blame.

When leading MMA journalist Ariel Helwani tweeted that the longer the substance remained a mystery, the more angry Hunt would get, Hunt reacted accordingly, shooting down suggestions from the Lesnar camp that an asthma medication was involved.

"U and I know it ain't no asthma bulls... typical coming from the a....... training camp f..... bunch of cheating scum," Hunt said in reply to Helwani.

The failed drug test from the day of the fight was the second Lesnar had failed to the same substance.

"The UFC organisation was notified today that the US Anti-Doping Agency (Usada) has informed Brock Lesnar that his in-competition sample collection from July 9, 2016, at UFC 200, has tested positive for the same substance as his previously announced out-of-competition collection on June 28, 2016," the UFC statement read.

"Usada, the independent administrator of the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, will handle the results management and appropriate adjudication of this case.

"It is important to note that, under the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, there is a full fair legal review process that is afforded to all athletes before any sanctions are imposed.

"The Nevada State Athletic Commission also retains jurisdiction over this matter as the sample collection was performed at UFC 200 in Las Vegas. Consistent with all previous potential anti-doping violations, additional information will be provided at the appropriate time as the process moves forward."

Last week, Usada confirmed that Lesnar had passed multiple drug tests before failing the one from a June 28 sample. Lesnar was tested eight times in total in the month leading up to UFC200. He passed the first five tests but has now failed at least two of the last three.

Lesnar gave little away after the first positive result, simply saying: "We will get to the bottom of this."

Lesnar is the third opponent who has tested positive after fighting against Hunt, following Brazil's Antonio Bigfoot Silva and American Frank Mir.

Hunt is waging a war against the cheats with a constant barrage of attacks via his various social media outlets. He was also demanding all of Lesnar's US$2.5m (NZ$3.5m) winner's purse in light of the failed drug tests. Confirmation of a second positive test will only increase his claims.
