Online trolls failed to appreciate a cute Leonardo DiCaprio throwback family photo ... instead cruelly zeroing in on his mother's hairy armpit.
The image was posted to Facebook by the History in Pictures Facebook page to commemorate DiCaprio's long-awaited Oscar win.
It shows a young Leo being held by his mother Irmelin and his father, George DiCaprio.
Despite the fact the photo was taken in 1976, a time when body hair trends differed from those today, and also ignoring that Irmelin is of German descent where it can be common for women to leave their underarm hair natural, the trolls took aim.
Commenting on the pic, one referred to the "ferret" under her arm, another called it a "beast of a pit" while another implied his mother's natural look somehow correlated to the actor's political views.
The haters were quickly swamped by support from other posters.
Trisha Dowd said: "It's so funny I am part of a generation that wants to "free the nipple", but freaks out when women have hair in their armpits. #feminism".
While Sara Maccini posted: "When i saw this, I thought 'Wow, that little toddler just got an Oscar. His parents must be extremely proud!' Not 'Omg, his mom didn't shave her pits during a time where women didn't shave their pits'."
