Jarryd Hayne talk with Sydney Roosters coach Trent Robinson photographed

It's the photo that has left Sydney Roosters fans cock-a-hoop and Parramatta Eels fans in disbelief.

But despite the rumour mill going into overdrive after Jarryd Hayne was unknowingly photographed in conversation with Roosters coach Trent Robinson, this wasn't the secret NRL meeting to lure Hayne back to rugby league many hoped it was.

The photograph was taken at a hotel in the Sydney CBD on the eve of the Liverpool Legends match against the Socceroos legends at ANZ Stadium last week.

One of the organisers of the exhibition match was Roosters training staff member Hayden Knowles - one of Hayne's closest friends - who had organised for Robinson to spend some time with former Liverpool coach Gerard Houllier.

Hayne, a Liverpool FC fan himself, was also in town promoting the event and joined former New South Wales team-mate Robbie Farah at the Liverpool Legends hotel to meet some of the players.

Despite Hayne and Robinson being photographed together, it's safe to assume a less private location would have been chosen to discuss a code-switch back to the NRL had Hayne harboured a desire to return.

While the Roosters would no doubt join a long queue of clubs to throw their hat into the ring if Hayne decided to return to the NRL, it's unlikely this will happen any time soon.

Hayne is committed to returning to the San Francisco 49ers for preseason training in April after he was promoted from the practice squad to the active roster for the final two games of the season.
