McDonalds donates to flea market charitable trust

McDonalds Samoa has further boosted the Samoa Offering Hope charitable trust with a donation of $5000 tala.

The funds will go towards the rehabilitation of vendors who lost their businesses in a fire at the flea market more than a month ago.

"I hope this will be a continuing thing, not only for nowin assistance of the market vendors, but for future events and tragedies," said franchise owner of the two McDonalds in the Samoan region in Tutuila amd Upolu, Tautolo Charlie Tautolo.

"This is what we want, and that is to help those in need," he added.

Mr. Tautolo travelled from American Samoa to hand over the assistance himself, in McDonald Samoa's support for the redevelopment of families affected.

The president of SOH Adele Kruse officially received the cheque and thanked Mr Tautolo for the generous offer.

"Samoa Offering Hope will be continuous, as a matter of fact the flea market burn was just a start to what will be the biggest assistance and relief agency for the people of Samoa, for years to come," she stated.

"This is why it’s crucial to have your support Tautolo, because every piece of help we get, is a big contribution to our established cause," she said.

The 26th of February was set as the date for the charitable trust to be closed and for all donations to be tallied and distributed amongst the stall owners of the Flea Market.

It is still uncertain though of whether a new flea market will be established in place after the first two months proposed by the government for the temporary market in place now.

But regardless, these small business owners can rest assured, they have all the support they need to get back to their feet.
