Various government ministries and NGOs in Samoa are combining their resources to clear mosquito breeding sites around the country in a persistent effort to stamp out any possible zika virus carrying mosquitoes.
The Chief Executive Officer of the Ministry of Health, Leausa Dr Take Naseri said his Ministry will oversee the technical aspects such as chemical agents used for spraying, but the actual spraying and cleaning work will be left with the individual ministries.
The Government Ministries include Health, Education, Samoa Tourism Authority and the Samoa Hotel Association.
“The effort is for them to carry out the cleaning and spraying operations at where ever they are operating around the country, so that hopefully within the next few months, we would have cleared the mosquitoes breeding sites,” said Leausa
