Samoa, Australia sign MOU for assistance for Samoan cocoa

Australia and Samoa have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for an Australian Government funded project that aims to improve cocoa production and market opportunities for Samoan cocoa.

The MOU was signed between Australian High Commissioner Sue Langford and Samoa's Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries Laaulialemalietoa Leuatea Polataivao.

The project worth up to A$162,710 is funded through the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research.

It will be implemented over a period of four years and builds on a stream of work on Pacific cocoa including some research on the climate resilience of cocoa plants.
