Samoa coach says PNC helped with World Cup selection dilemmas

Manu Samoa rugby coach Stephen Betham says the Pacific Nations Cup has answered a number of questions on the make-up of his squad for the Rugby World Cup.

Samoa were beaten 39-29 by Fiji in the PNC final on Tuesday and now have the next week off before reassembling in camp.

Stephen Betham says with a number of front-line players rested for the tournament he was impressed with the form of the new faces.

He says the World Cup picture is now a lot clearer.

"We know now who we're going to put the main focus on for the World Cup. Those who missed out they've really played well. Pretty much we're happy with their form building to the next World Cup - most of them are all young. That saying, we've killed two birds with one stone: not only have we answered questions on who we need to take to the World Cup but we've also built depth going forward to the next World Cup".
