Winning coach Potu Leavasa said the players played according to their game plan.

"Our players really played well today and it was a very hard game with Japan," he said.

"Japan gave their best and scored a few tries as well. Since we are in the final a lot of hard work is required from us. We might play Fiji in the final so we have to come out prepared. We will be working on our weak areas."

Junior Japan coach Katu Takeuch said the players did not play as a unit.

"The players did not play well and made a lot of mistakes."
