Samoa finish pool phase winless

Samoa has finished the pool phase without a win at the Netball World Cup after being outclassed 85-34 by England in Sydney.

The Samoans only managed ten goals in a disappointing first half but troubled the English in the third quarter, which they lost 18-14.

Goal-shoot Julianna Naoupu says it's a unique challenge coming up against the big guns.

"It comes down to experience. We've got a lot of girls who, individually, have experience through different levels and then coming into a World Cup situation you've got the majority of those girls who train together as a full unit, whereas us we come in, [have] a couple of camps and that's probably the only trainings that we are able to get together. For us it's a learning curve and I think for the majority of the girls they were pretty star-struck with the line-up that England had - not many of the girls get an opportunity to play alongside some of those girls".

Samoa are in the same pool as Trinidad and Tobago in the next round and Naoupu says they hope to meet Fiji later on to gain revenge for defeats earlier in the year.
