The recruitment process is being conducted at the Don Bosco Technical College.
The team from New Zealand includes two employers and representatives from the Ara Canterbury Institute of Technology.
The team from the Ara Institute presented carpentry tools and equipment for the Don Bosco Technical School yesterday.
The Canterbury Trade Pilot Initiative is locally-linked to the Seasonal Employment Unit under the Ministry of the Prime Minister and Cabinet. The Chief Executive Officer of MPMC, Agafili Shem Leo, acknowledged the assistance by the Government of New Zealand for recruiting local carpenters and also thanked ARA for donating tools for Don Bosco.
“This initiative reflects the close partnership between Samoa and New Zealand,” said Agafili, who also highlighted the fact that Samoa has already sent three carpenters under the scheme, during the first phase earlier this year, and is delighted that more tradespeople from Samoa will be recruited after the assessments this week.
