SPTO to showcase the Pacific in China

The Chinese cities of Guangzhou and Chengdu will play host to the South Pacific China Roadshow 2015 as the Pacific looks to boost its tourism marketing presence in China.

Organised by the South Pacific Tourism Organisation (SPTO) in association with the Pacific Islands Trade and Invest (PT&I) Beijing, the roadshow will feature the National Tourism Offices (NTO) from Fiji, Vanuatu, Tahiti, Tuvalu and Samoa and private sector participants from Tahiti: Polynesie Voyages, SPT’s Partner, Tahiti Tours, Tahiti Nui Travel, Fiji: Rosie Holidays, Vanuatu: Evergreen Tours, Adventures in Paradise and Atmosphere Tours.

The roadshow held this week is a prelude to the China International Travel Mart (CITM) that will be held in Kunming from the 13th – 15th of November, where the SPTO and its members will also feature.

The South Pacific China Roadshow 2015 embodies the SPTO’s determination to actively explore the Chinese tourism market through face to face communication with China’s travel industry partners and travel media industry in the two emerging Chinese tourism outbound cities of Guangzhou and Chengdu.

SPTO Chief Executive Ilisoni Vuidreketi said: “This roadshow is a part of SPTO’s strategic objective to ensure travel agents in China feel comfortable when selling the South Pacific and to improve destination loyalty amongst agents.”

“China has the largest number of outbound tourists in the world and our marketing efforts are geared towards tapping into this emerging market by educating travel agents and the media on the unique products and services that we offer as a destination in the Pacific,” Vuidreketi added.

The SPTO will also use the roadshow as a vehicle to promote the European Union supported South Pacific Travel Trade Specialist training programme, which now includes the five new specialist trainings covering the niche markets: dive, culture and heritage, backpackers, fishing as well as wedding and honeymoon.

The South Pacific Specialist Programme (SPSP) is an online accreditation program that provides travel agents with the opportunity to develop and enhance their knowledge on the various tourism products and services that are available throughout the tropical South Pacific.
