Kefu: Bring On Samoa, Fiji

Kefu: Bring On Samoa, Fiji Tonga rugby head coach Toutai Kefu says, they are ready to meet Samoa and the Vodafone Flying Fijians at Teufaiva Stadium, Nuku’alofa.

Tonga take on Samoa on Saturday in the 2017 Pacific Nations Cup opener before tackling Fiji on July 8.

“We are on track,” the former Wallabies No.8 said.

It’s been several years since there has been an international rugby match at Teufaiva Stadium. The Tonga Rugby Union (TRU) is hosting two matches of the 2017 PNC.

The last international rugby game to be held at Teufaiva Stadium, according to the TRU was in 2012, between Tonga and the Flying Fijians.

The Tongans have been camping in Nukualofa for the past two weeks to prepare for their PNC opener. This was after they were beaten 24-6 by Wales at Eden Park, Auckland, New Zealand on June 16.

Kefu said while there was no excuse on their loss to Wales, but the Welsh got away with an up-tempo line speed.

He said that being back in Tonga for two weeks before playing Samoa, gives them ample time to polish up their game plan.

“The ‘Ikale Tahi team to meet Manu Samoa will be announced on Wednesday,” he added.
