Suspect charged with theft as a servant found carrying marijuana during interrogation in Samoa

An 18 year old man, who worked for a wholesale company, has been charged with theft as a servant.

The accused was seen on video footage from CCTV cameras in the company’s carpark allegedly hiding two boxes of canned tuna in a rubbish bin.

The owner of the company reported the matter to police and the suspect was taken in for question.

“The owner called the police and we were able to apprehend him for questioning. We brought him in and did a proper search first before the interviews had begun,” said Police spokesperson Sua Le Mamea Tiumalu.

During questioning, Police allegedly found two rolls of leaves believed to be marijuana in the suspect’s pocket.

“So now we have charged him with not only theft as a servant but also possession of illegal drugs. It’s the third case of marijuana being found within the last seven days. We have yet to find a court date for the accused but he has been released by police until we settle a date for him to appear in court,” he said.
