Sweden goes home with good PNG experience

The young team from Sweden will return to their country with good experience in the land of the unexpected as they bow out of the 2016 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup.

Coach Calle Barrling said they spent two lovely weeks in PNG and will go home with a  good experience from the tournament and the country.

Barrling told the post match press conference that his side had the youngest players in the tournament and despite the loss, they have made an improvement with their performance.

Sweden's captain Anna Oskarsson said they did everything to win tonight against Brazil and are satisfied with their overall performance in the tournament.

Meanwhile, it has been eight years since Brazil has advanced to the quarter finals and Brazilian coach Dorival Bueno said he knew match would be difficult with Sweden  being a strong team.

"Our defenders played well and scored early in match.  Sweden came hard in the second half to score because they needed to win but we're strong with free kicks and corner.

"Now we're very happy to go into quarter finals," Bueno said when congratulating his players who didn't give up and tried best to score in the second half.

Player of the match Daiane Silve said she was happy being played of March and then qualifying to the quarter finals.

"If it wasn't for my mates from my team I wouldn't be here,"Silve said.

Meanwhile the Brazilian coach said they don't know the extent of Katrine's injuries until she undergoes tests.

Brazil's midfielder Katrine was carried out of the field in a stretcher in the 75th minute after she injured herself in front of Sweden's goal.

"She will undergo tests but hope it's not very serious. Important thing is they all are ready to play. Will wait to see what happens," he added.
