British F1 champion Lewis Hamilton joins Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare cast

British F1 champion Lewis Hamilton has got a part in the new Call of Duty game.

The 31-year-old will play the role of an engineer onboard the Retribution in Infinite Warfare.

The game, which is rated is rated PEGI 18, is out on 4 November on the PS4, Xbox One and PC.

Lewis Hamilton said: "I've been a Call of Duty fan for long time, so it's an absolute honour to be part of this game and the franchise."

Infinity Ward, the makers of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, say the Retribution is one of the United Nations Space Alliance's last remaining warships after a deadly attack on their fleet.

Lewis Hamilton's scene takes place at the beginning of the game.

He added: "The experience of being put into the game - from the facial scanning process to working with the team on the performance capture stage and just being able to meet the developers at the studio to get a glimpse at all the hard work that goes into the game - this has been an incredible experience."

Infinity Ward says the new game will be more about leadership skills.

Players will take on the role of Captain Reyes, a tier 1 special operations soldier, who's in charge of the Retribution.

Reyes has to lead the remaining coalition forces "against a relentless enemy".

Infinite Warfare will also see the introduction of new weaponry, player abilities and settings.

Footage of Kit Harington from Infinite Warfare was released earlier this year.

Newsbeat was given access to the film, which shows the Game of Thrones actor playing one of the main characters in CoD: Infinite Warfare.

British film director Guy Ritchie was in charge of Kit Harington's scenes.

A behind-the-scenes video was released on Facebook showing Kit on a motion capture film set.

He also had full facial scans for the project and is shown being wheeled into a cage full of cameras.

Kit is from the enemy faction in the game, the SDF (Settlement Defence Front).
