Immigration Office opens in Savai’i

The Ministry of the Prime Minister and Cabinet has opened an office in Savai’i, with special focus on services provided by the Immigration Office.

Prime Minister and Minister for MPMC, Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi officially opened the office, which is located on the second floor of the Salelologa Market, and encouraged the people of Savaii to make good use of the services provided.

“This office will focus primarily on Immigration services, but the public can also access other Ministry services such as the Savali Newspaper and information on the Seasonal Employment Unit,” he said, adding that this will save time and money for Savaii residents, who no longer have to travel great distances for Immigration forms, Savali Newspapers or registration forms for the RSE Scheme.

The investment is in line with the Government’s platform that what is available in Upolu should also be available for Savai’i.

“The concept is also in line with the government’s Salelologa Township Development Project,” said Tuilaepa, also highlighting the importance of prioritising the Salelologa township.

“The ultimate target is to bring all government agencies, scattered around Salelologa, under the one roof here at the Market, and make it easier for the public to access government services in a convenient and centralised location.”

The Market currently hosts offices for several government agencies such as the Development Bank of Samoa, Samoa Housing Corporation, Ministry of Commerce Industry and Labour and the Samoa Statistics Bureau.
