A three year old boy is recovering at Motootua Hospital after falling out of a moving vehicle in Siusega.
A 43 year old man has been charged with negligent driving causing injuries.
It is alleged the child fell off the back of the family van last Friday night around 10.30pm, as it was traveling from Aleisa towards Apia.
A group of young people on the side of the road found the child and rushed him to the hospital.
The matter was also reported to police.
"He is now recovering and getting well with each day, the 43 year old man who operated the vehicle has been charged and is awaiting his time in court," said Police spokesperson Maotaoalii Taupau Kaioneta.
"Investigations are ongoing as to what really happened that caused the incident, so as of now we cannot speculate on anything else," said Maotaoalii.
Police have advised the public to be cautious of children when travelling in cars, as freak accidents such as this may occur anytime.
