9 private organisations in Samoa to receive financial boost

Cabinet has at its latest meeting approved financial assistance of $200,000.00 for private organisations.

The organisations had approached the government for assistance for the development of their businesses.

A Cabinet statement said the Government established this assistance to enhance administrative support for private organisations.

The organisations are required to meet several criteria for selection.

One of them is that the organisation’s membership should at least be 15.

The organisations are also required to submit audited financial reports every financial year as well as submit business development plans to the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Labour.

The organisations should have projects to develop the skills and capacity of their members in the development of manufacturing and farming, or the enhancement of production and the marketing of goods made in Samoa. 

The organisations that will receive financial assistance are: Women in Business Development Inc $40,000.00, Samoa Chamber of Commerce $40,000.00, Samoa Association of Manufacturers and Exporters $35,000.00, Samoa Hotels Association $30,000.00, Business of Salafai Association $15,000.00, Federated Farmers Association $8,000.00
Savaii Samoa Tourism Authority $7,000.00, Samoa Mamanu Designs & Manufacturers Association $5,000.00, Small Business Association of Samoa Arts and Handicrafts Incorporated (Flea Market) $5,000.00, Tautai Samoa $5,000.00, Samoa for Real $5,000.00, and Farmers Samoa Incorporated $5,000.00
