'Natural leader' Christian Leali'ifano to captain Moana Pasifika

The former Wallaby and Brumbie's captain takes charge of Moana Pasifika's leadership role following the injury of Sekope Kepu in Friday's 37-17 loss to the Highlanders.

"I'm really excited for Christian, he's a very natural leader," said Moana Pasifika Assistant Coach Filo Tiatia.

"We have total confidence around how he leads, particularly off the field and what he brings on field.

"He's a captain at the highest level, he was a captain of the Brumbies and also had a bit of a leadership role in the Wallabies."

Moana Pasifika ring changes following historic Hurricanes win

Eleven players set to make their Moana Pasifika debut on Tuesday, with head coach Aaron Mauger using the full depth of his squad with only a four-day turnaround from Friday's historic win against the Hurricanes.

After playing for the Crusaders in Moana Pasifika's first match, prop Abraham Pole will make his debut for Moana Pasifika as a permanent replacement for the season.

Slipper to captain Wallabies

Hooper has been ruled out after suffering a "mid-foot" sprain in the defeat by England.

It is the second time that the front rower will take charge of the Wallabies after captaining the team in a test against the United States before the 2015 World Cup. He was then the first prop in almost 40 years to captain Australia.

Slipper made his test debut in 2010 and has since won 110 caps for Australia.

Best named Barbarians captain

Former Ireland skipper Best is calling time on a 15-year senior career after Saturday's match at Twickenham.

It has now been confirmed the 37-year-old will lead Eddie Jones' side, with the England coach having also included three of South Africa's Rugby World Cup winners.

Makazole Mapimpi and loosehead prop Tendai Mtawarira – also making the final appearance of his career – start, with Lukhanyo Am named on the bench.

In total, there are 10 South African players within the 23-man invitational squad.

Wales captain Jones set to miss summer Tests

Wales face the Proteas in a one-off Test in the United States before coming up against the Pumas twice, but Jones looks set to be given a rest.

"I don't think he will go on tour in the summer," Wales head coach Gatland said after his side's Six Nations win over France.

"It is about us managing him over the next 18 months.

"We have got a plan in place for him over the next year or so in terms of the amount of games he plays for the Ospreys and for us.

"He is very important for us and we need to keep him fresh."

Williamson catches bug on eve of second test

Williamson picked up a bug and was unable to train at Eden Gardens on the eve of the match.

Opening batsman Tom Latham said he took the final day of preparations off to get well for the first day of the test.

"Kane's also a little bit crook today so he won't be training but no discomfort. I think he's just down with a bug, so nothing too major, but he's just resting up and getting right for tomorrow," Latham said.

American Airlines captain dead after falling ill during flight

The aircraft's co-pilot took control of the plane after the captain became incapacitated, and landed safely at Syracuse Hancock International Airport shortly after 7am.

The plane, an Airbus A320, was en route from Phoenix to Boston when it was diverted to Syracuse in response to the medical emergency.

"Unfortunately, our pilot passed away," American Airlines said in a statement. "We are incredibly saddened by this event, and we are focused on caring for our pilot's family and colleagues."
