Joseph Parker's handlers prefer Anthony Joshua to Deontay Wilder for unification bout

Parker's future as WBO champion continues to grab headlines as the clouded heavyweight division looks to map a path towards one dominant fighter.

Wilder, the WBC champion has called out Parker saying he wants to fight the Kiwi next.

There's business to attend to first – Wilder must get past fellow American Gerald Washington and Parker needs to beat britain's Hughie Fury to retain their belts.

Wilder should have little trouble with Washington and he expects Parker to handle Fury. That has him very enthusiastic about fighting the Kiwi, adding he's more than willing to have the unification fight in New Zealand.

"I want Joseph Parker," Wilder told Ring TV. "This is how I want things to go and this is what my team has in mind as well - 2017 is all about unifications.

Wilder has spoken previously about his appetite to fight the 25-year-old Kiwi, but it now appears he is in a hurry to get it done.

Wilder returns to action on February 25, defending his title against Poland's Andrezj Wawrzyk in Alabama. It's his first fight since breaking a hand in a successful defence against American Chris Arreola in July.
