Digicel appoints first Fijian as Regional CEO for Pacific

No stranger to Digicel, Ms Jannif served until recently as the Chief Financial Officer – Pacific Hub based in Suva.

Ms Jannif has been with Digicel, in key decision making roles for the past six years. She joined Digicel Fiji in December 2012 as the Manager Financial Planning, a post which she held for two and a half years and was then appointed Digicel Fiji’s Financial Controller in June 2015 before being appointed CFO – Hub Markets in January 2017.

Digicel supports Special Olympics Team Fiji with $100,000 cash sponsorship

Digicel is the major sponsor of Special Olympics Team Fiji.

Digicel Fiji CEO, Mike Greig while signing the official sponsorship agreement said, “This is an on-going partnership which stretches years back to support Special Olympics Fiji in major events and now we are stepping up to support the team to attend the World meet.”

Special Olympics Team Fiji will send its largest contingent to the world meet with 21 athletes in five sports, supported by 14 strong volunteer team of managers and support staff.

Digicel lends timely help to 50 HART children with back to school items

Digicel staff got together and contributed general school stationary items while Star Printery gave all the exercise books to the children.

Digicel Fiji CEO, Mike Greig made the presentation and met the children and encouraged them to do their best in school this year.

“This is an excellent gesture at the start of the year, I want to thank Digicel Fiji staff who took pride and made an effort to buy stationary and help some needy children in our community,” said Greig.

Digicel provides new telemedicine facility for Suva Children’s Hospital

Digicel Founder and Chairman, Denis O’Brien, who was in Fiji last week as part of a tour of Digicel’s Pacific markets, launched the new teleconference facility at the hospital in Suva.

Digicel worked in partnership with the International Women’s Association, a non-profit group to see this milestone project through.

Digicel partners with Samoa Stationery & Books

This partnership will enable customers to purchase a TV set and a Digicel Play decoder all at once at any of the SSAB stores in Upolu and Savaii. Each purchase of a TV set & Digi play decoder customers will have the option to sign up on a monthly subscription, either the Lite plan for WST$49 or the premium plan for WST$89 which gives them up to 25 Channels.

Digicel provides free Wi-Fi at Fiji’s Premiere Fashion Event

The sponsorship package includes telecommunications support for the FJFW administration which will be held from 21st to 25th May at the FMF Gymnasium in Suva.

Digicel Fiji CEO, Mike Greig said,” We are delighted to continue our support for Fiji’s premiere fashion show. Our support for the 2018 FJFW is with cash and telecommunications support including free wireless internet hotspots at FMF Gymnasium.”

Digicel supports Special Olympics Fiji Invitational Regional Games

Digicel launches leadership program

The program was launched today in Port Moresby.

Aspire is a development program designed to provide leadership training for high potential Digicel staff to support and prepare them to move into future leadership positions within the business.

Digicel Chief of People Officer, Emer Jameson, said the program is another example of the continued commitment from Digicel to build leadership capacity across its markets.

Digicel first to provide reliable, efficient data service via Tui Samoa cable

Founder and chairman of the Digicel Group, Mr. Denis O’Brien was in Samoa to mark the launch and said, “First of all, I am delighted to be back in Samoa and this is a special moment as we have invested in modern technology as partners in the Tui Samoa cable, today it’s a historical occasion as our customers get to enjoy the best in data services. I would like to congratulate the Samoan Government for doing a great job in seeing through this project which won’t only benefit Samoa but other Pacific countries. As investors and partners in the Tui Samoa cable, this is a historical moment.”

Digicel Samoa’s network and recovery efforts underway

About two-thirds of the communication has been restored in Upolu and Savaii and work is ongoing at pace to restore all services in Samoa.

Additionally, public charging stations have been deployed across multiple sites so that customers can power their phones and connect with families and friends at home and abroad. Locations of charging stations are being communicated via the Digicel Samoa Facebook page and via the radio stations.

Relief supplies were packed by staff and are being distributed to heavily affected areas.
