Digicel completes Share Purchase Agreement for Tonga Cable Ltd

As a result, Government will be able to co-finance alongside the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank, the extension of the fibre optic cable to Vava’u and Ha’apai Islands for an improved telecommunication service in both Island groups.

Digicel plans new hotel for Samoa

Digicel has been looking at entering Samoa’s tourism industry with plans to build a hotel.

Fiaailetoa says it’s a great initiative by Government to focus on tourism by giving local businesses a chance to build the country’s tourism sector.

“The idea is to bring in more flights to Samoa and Digicel having being a very big name in the Pacific, we know we can contribute to that goal, so that’s why we are in talks of building a five-star hotel,” he said.

“Digicel is keen to invest in our tourism by supporting government focuses such as this,” he said.

Digicel apologises for network outage

The outage was caused by issues in connectivity with the satellite link and resulted in impacts on a number of services including data. The Digicel team immediately responded to ensure all services were restored as soon as possible.

Digicel, TV3 partnership team up to broadcast Parker-Ruiz fight in Samoa

The free broadcast of the fight has been made possible through a partnership between Digicel Samoa and Apia Broadcasting Limited, owners of TV3.

Digicel Samoa CEO Rory Condon, TV3 owner Hans Joe Keil and TV3 Managing Director Verona Parker officially announced the partnership on Friday with a sponsorship of the broadcast worth approximately $30,000 tala.
