Australian Minister’s trip to Samoa a success, Manu Samoa receives financial support ahead of RWC

Minister Conroy announced Australia’s support of AUD$220,000 (approx. WST 390,000) to the Manu Samoa team ahead of the 2023 Rugby World Cup to be held in France, on the second day of his two day visit.

Rugby is an integral part of Samoa and Australia’s national identities and a symbol of the shared love of sports between the two nations.

New Pacific affairs minister in Australian cabinet reshuffle

Senator Concetta Fierravanti-Wells takes the position from Steve Ciobo, who is now the Liberal government's trade minister.

Ms Fierravanti-Wells was first elected to the Australian Senate in 2004, after a career as a government lawyer and policy advisor.

Julie Bishop retains the foreign affairs portfolio.
