Samoa Police to use electric bikes during patrols for CWHG meeting

Australia Federal Police instructors have been in Samoa running training courses ending with three qualified instructors, and 16 officers who are now trained in the bicycle patrol officers program.

The Australian government donated electric bikes worth over US$53,540.

     

Penguin waddling in village in England picked up by police

They were on patrol in Broxtowe, Nottinghamshire, England when they spotted the Humboldt penguin in a village street in the early hours of Sunday.

The bird, nicknamed Po-Po, had escaped from a farm enclosure in Strelley and then managed to waddle a mile up the road.

Police stuck their beak in and the penguin was returned to its owner.

PC Gareth Philp said they nicknamed the penguin Po-Po after "he posed for some pictures with us and he was very friendly with our officers".

Last year a pair of stolen penguins were rescued by officers in Strelley.

Samoa police to increase Apia seawall patrols

Fuiavailili Egon Keil told Newsline the police will step up their patrols in response to calls to protect people using the waterfront.

The call was made after the death of a Chinese national last month.

Fuiavailili said there will be extra resource put in to the main trouble spots, especially behind the Government Building.

He said the area needed more street lights, and trees and other obstacles that shroud the area should be removed.
