Army's YouTube and Twitter accounts hacked

Videos on cryptocurrency using images of billionaire businessman Elon Musk appeared on the YouTube channel.

The Twitter feed appeared to retweet several posts related to NFTs - a type of electronic artwork for investment.

The Army confirmed the "breach", saying it took information security "extremely seriously" and was resolving the issue. Both accounts have now been restored.

An Army spokesperson added: "Whilst we have now resolved the issue an investigation is ongoing and it would be inappropriate to comment further."

Fijian British army veterans lose court battle to remain in UK

The group were refused leave for a judicial review of their cases by Mr Justice Garnham, who concluded the veterans had made their claim too late and that the courts were concerned with “illegality not misadministration” or an “unfocused idea of fairness”.

The claimants included Remesio “Pat” Waqaliva, 42, who was suddenly discharged from the army in 2009 after nine years’ service, including two tours of Iraq, and not advised that he had to immediately apply for the UK citizenship to which he was legally entitled.

Commonwealth citizens can now apply to join British Army

The British Army has welcomed soldiers from Commonwealth countries for many years; however, under previous rules, people could only join if they had lived in the UK for five years.

Commonwealth nationals will now be able to apply for positions including Medical Technician, Logistic Supply Specialist, Chef, Vehicle Mechanic, Metalsmith and Gunner Logistics Specialist.
