Masterchef: Elizabeth Haigh's book pulled after plagiarism claims

Fellow cook Sharon Wee claimed Haigh's book Makan "copied or paraphrased" recipes and anecdotes from her 2012 book, Cooking in a Nonya Kitchen.

Both cookbooks draw on the authors' childhoods and Singaporean heritage.

Haigh has not yet publicly commented and has not responded to a request for comment from BBC News.

Her book Makan was released in May by Bloomsbury, who have now said it has been withdrawn "due to rights issues".

Cook book helps Samoa cuisine industry

And this is being put down to the promotional value garnered as a result of a cook book by noted chef Robert Oliver.

RNZ reports the chief executive of the Samoa Tourism Authority, Papalii Sonya Hunter, said in the past year or so they have cut the amount the country has had to spend on imported fruits, vegetables, meat and fish, for the tourism industry.

She says as Mr Oliver was researching the Samoan recipes for his regional cook book, Me'a Kai, her agency was looking for ways to brand Samoan cuisine for tourists.
