Samoa's Deputy PM complains to the Speaker about HRPP members

Tuala Iosefo Ponifasio believes the pair had committed numerous breaches of the Standing Orders - the written rules of procedure that provide for the conduct of proceedings in the House.

Tuala asked the Speaker to refer the matter to a Privileges and Ethics Committee.

In a press conference last week Tuilaepa rejected the content of the complaint, saying it is foolish, baseless and a waste of time.

The Speaker told the two HRPP members to make written responses by Monday afternoon.

HRPP in Samoa will go ahead with Vaiusu Bay, if returned to power

Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi told voters in the Falealupo constituency, ahead of next month's by-elections, that he had urged Chinese leaders not to stop the project.

The Faatuatua I le Atua Samoa ua Tasi FAST Party government stopped the port project when it took office.

Tuilaepa claims the cancellation was due to the ongoing feud between the west and China.

He reminded these countries what the late South African President, Nelson Mandela, had said "your enemies are not our enemies".

Samoa's HRPP loses another seat in petitions

The HRPP had 25 seats to winner FAST's 26 but a series of losses at the courts now has them languishing with 18.

The FAST party has challenged the results in 10 electorates and will have the chance to re-contest in seven of them.

The party also has the mood of the nation on side as HRPP's popularity wanes because of its beligerent conduct since the election three months ago.

It's refused to cede power despite poll results and numerous court rulings against it.

Of the seven up-coming by-elections five involve the same candidates.
