New Zealand completes sevens championship double

Heading into the penultimate tournament of the Series, the All Blacks Sevens knew they would secure the overall title if they reached the Cup final.

They did that with a tight 19-14 victory over France in the semi-finals an then needed extra time to beat Argentina 24-19 in the final.

The Black Ferns Sevens wrapped up their championship earlier in the tournament by making the quarter-finals.

However they didn't stop there.... going on to beat the USA 19-14 in the final.

Samoa in 6th place ahead of Toulouse 7s

The Toulouse 7s is scheduled to be held next weekend.

Samoa is currently trailing behind Australia with 111 points in the overall standings.

Australia is in fifth place with 112 points.

Series leaders New Zealand has 164 under its name ahead of Argentina with 140 points. Fiji is in third place with 130 points.

France is in fourth place with 122 points ahead of Australia with 112 points.

Samoa will face Ireland in their first game in Toulouse on Friday, 12 May.

Samoa finish fourth in Toulouse

Samoa Global News reports the French have been in great form this weekend and they launched wave after wave of attack, catapulted by Samoa conceding four penalties in the first four minutes.

The French took a 7-0 halftime lead.

The young all-local Manu 7s side has moved Samoa up by 5 places on the HSCB World Series standings from 15th to 10th after Toulouse.

Samoa will go on to London for the next leg of the HSBC World Sevens Series, their fourth tournament since returning to the circuit.
