Samoa reports new Covid cases, 1 death

Two of the cases arrived on a flight on a Fiji Airways flight on 14 May and six cases were on an Air New Zealand flight on 15 May.

The passengers on both the flights followed the revised travel regulations advised by the Health Ministry, which now only requires the travelers to self-isolate for 7 days and to provide the Health Ministry with results of mandatory Covid-19 tests they are required to take on the third and seventh days of their self-isolation.

The Ministry of Health’s latest situational report said there were 331 new cases.

Samoa has 1 death, 362 new Covid cases

The Ministry of Health has declined to comment further on the case out of respect for the family.

The ministry also recorded 362 new community cases in the same reporting period.

Fifteen cases are in managed isolation and four are critical cases in ICU at the Moto’otua Hospital.

According to the ministry, 120 cases were discharged in the two days.

A total of 45,696 Rapid antigen tests were carried out as well.

Samoa records 1 death, 275 new community cases

The deceased had no known comorbidities and was unvaccinated, according to the Ministry of Health.

His death was reported in the 24-hour period to 2pm yesterday.

The ministry has also confirmed 275 new community cases in the monitoring period.

This brings the total number of confirmed community cases to 2,997 of which 1,583 remain active cases.

There are 12 cases currently in managed isolation at the Moto’otua National Hospital.

Three critical cases are in ICU.

The highest number of cases of 382 are in the 25 to 29 years age group.

145 new community cases in New Zealand today, one further death

In a statement, the Ministry of Health said there were 77 people in hospital, including eight people in ICU.

The person who died was in their 80s and had been in Auckland City Hospital since 17 November.

"Our thoughts are with their whānau and friends at this very sad time," the Ministry said in its statement.

There are 127 new cases in Auckland, with the rest in Waikato (13), Bay of Plenty (4) and Canterbury (1).

205 new Covid-19 cases, 1 death in New Zealand

In a statement the Ministry of Health (MOH) said Counties Manukau Health reported the death of a man in his 40s at Middlemore Hospital.

“No further information will be released until conversations with the man’s family have concluded. Our thoughts are with the man’s family and friends at this deeply sad time.”

Of the new cases, 175 were in Auckland, 20 in Waikato, five in Bay of Plenty, one in Taupō and four in Northland.

NSW records 77 new COVID-19 cases, one death

Thirty-three of the cases have been out in the community while infectious.

NSW Health confirmed a woman in her 90s from south west Sydney died yesterday at Liverpool Hospital.

It is the first COVID death in NSW since December 2020.

She was a close contact of a locally acquired case and was tested for COVID-19 on Friday, returning a positive result early yesterday morning.

Over 500 new cases, one death confirmed in Fiji

Health Secretary James Fong says the 55-year-old woman from Nabua was attended to by a ministry response team at a medical facility.

The woman was transferred to the Colonial War Memorial Hospital after she reported having severe symptoms of COVID-19.

"Her condition worsened in hospital and she died two days after admission. She was not vaccinated," Dr Fong said.

He said there had been two more deaths of COVID positive patients.
